Finding support in our industry often depends on who you already know. The Open Pipes Mentor Network (OPMN) will be an open, shared platform where people developing their careers can seek guidance, and experienced professionals can give back.

We've spoken with a range of Network Operator Groups (NOGs) and other industry organisations, and many have expressed interest. Together, we have an opportunity to make mentoring and community connections more accessible across organisations, regions and career stages.

What We're Building​

• Mentor and participant profiles to connect people around experience, interests and the guidance they need.
• Conference Buddy connections to help newcomers find a friendly face at industry events.
• Practical resources to support mentoring, learning and professional development.

Whether someone is attending their first NOG meeting or taking on a new responsibility, OPMN will help them find people willing to share their experience.

How We'll Make It Happen​

Our initial goal is $60,000 in funding commitments to support the platform's design, development and launch, alongside the coordination needed to deliver it.

Our next steps are to bring the community together, establish technical and governance working groups, and agree priorities before building and testing the first version.

Sponsorship will help fund this initial work and sustain the platform's maintenance, further development and programme coordination as the network grows.
